To grow lotus plants we must have a good quality soil mix and having fertile soil will make our lotus bloom faster and make us happy and our garden beautiful.


Lotus plant soil mix:



Lotus love to grow in muddy areas, so we have to prepare the soil which is full of nutrients and can stay in water. 


Step by step we will learn how to make Lotus plant soil mix:


  1. Firstly take fresh and healthy new soil,  we have to take new soil because old soil does not have enough amount of nutrients in it as it is consumed by other plants so taking fresh new soil will give your Lotus a amount of nutrients to bloom.

  2.  The second step is to take Organic compost which we will add at the base of our pot.

  3.  The final step is to take a big size pot in which we will add the soul mix and will go our lotus.


 How to prepare Lotus plant pot:


  •  To prepare the Lotus plant pot take a big size pot minimum of 55-65 Ltr Of water holding capacity. Now we have to add vermicompost or cow dung composed nearly 2-3 inches at the base of the pot/bucket,  after that, we have to add soil almost 3 to 4 inches in height.

  • After growing the Lotus plant in the soil mix, we can add water make sure to overflow some of the water this will remove the access waste from the water which is floating on the top and you will get Crystal Clear Water the next day.


  • The next day we have to add some of the fish that will not allow mosquito larvae to grow adding fish in a Lotus or any aquatic plant tub is necessary because mosquitoes Grow easily in stagnant water and can harm us by spreading many types of diseases.


Location for your Lotus plant:


 Lotus plants love the tropical type of climates, they generally love the sunlight on itself Lotus plants flower only when kept in a warm location with a sunny day, if your Lotus plant leaves are burning with the heat of Sunlight then you can keep your Lotus plant in a location where it received minimum 2-3 hours of Sunlight.


Fertilizer for Lotus plant:


 Lotus plants require a huge amount of fertilizer in the soil for flowering,  we have to give fertilizer just before the flowering season gets started this is because if we give fertilizer in between of lotus flowering period then the lotus flower may get Burnout with the heat of fertilizer so best time to give Lotus fertilizer is in February and March month just after the reporting of lotus plant.
