Tulsi plant is very important plant and have many medicinal benefits, every house should have atleast 1 tulsi plant. Consuming tulsi plant leaves every day make our immune system strong and help us to fight every day diseases.

Growing a healthy and bushy tulsi plant requires proper care and attention. Here are some guidelines to improve your tulsi plant and grow bushy:

1. Selecting the Right Variety:

Choose a suitable variety of tulsi based on your region and climate. Popular varieties include Krishna tulsi, Rama tulsi, and Kapoor tulsi, we have many but there 3 are famous and are easily available in local nurseries.

2. Choosing the Planting Location:

Tulsi plants grow very well in full sunlight. Select tulsi plant location that receives at least 5-7 hours of direct sunlight daily. Ensure the location is well-drained, as tulsi prefers moist but not waterlogged soil. so always prefer to make loose soil for tulsi if you don't know how to make ask nursery person to make it for you.

3. Preparing the Soil:

Tulsi prefers rich, loamy soil with good drainage. Prepare the soil by mixing organic compost or well-rotted manure to enhance its fertility and moisture retention capacity. Adding cocopeat of sand will make soil light and loose enough and no water will be hold and this will make your tulsi plant to grow healthy and bushy.

4. Planting:

We can grow tulsi plant from seeds or seedlings during the spring season and rainy season. Sow the seeds about half inch deep, after 7 to 8 days seedling will grow then we can transplant the seedlings at a distance of 12-18 inches apart.

5. Watering:

Water the tulsi plant regularly at certain interval to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Water the plant early in the morning to allow the leaves to dry before nightfall or you can select to give water in evening.

6. Fertilization:

Feed the tulsi plant with a balanced organic fertilizer once every two to three weeks during the growing season. Avoid excessive use of nitrogen-rich fertilizers, as they can lead to excessive foliage growth. As we have to consume tulsi leaves so don't use chemical fertilizer to make tulsi plant healthy and bushy.

7. Pruning and Pinching:

Regularly pinch off the flowers or prune the plant to encourage bushy growth. This helps in maintaining the shape and prevents the plant from becoming leggy. Pinching also promotes the production of essential oils. After certain time tulsi plant produce flowers and seeds on it self know as tulsi crown, just trim once tulsi crown seen also known as seedling pot and you will see tulsi plant growing very well

8. Pest and Disease Control:

Keep an eye out for pests like aphids, whiteflies, or spider mites. Treat any infestations promptly with organic insecticides or homemade remedies like neem oil or a soap-water solution. Avoid overwatering, as it can cause fungal diseases. Provide adequate air circulation to prevent diseases like powdery mildew. All these happen in winter season when tulsi plant is in dormancy to take extra care of tulsi plant and if temperature is very cold then keep plant indoor.

9. Winter Care:

Tulsi is sensitive to cold temperatures. If you live in a region with frost, consider growing tulsi in pots and bringing them indoors during winter. Place the pots near a sunny window and reduce watering frequency during the dormant period.
